IOPS
Definition
IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) is a performance metric that measures the number of read and write operations a storage device or system can perform per second. IOPS is critical for workloads involving many small, random I/O operations such as databases, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and OLTP systems. Modern NVMe SSDs can deliver over 1 million IOPS, while traditional HDDs typically achieve 100-200 IOPS.
