iSCSI
Definition
iSCSI (Internet Small Computer Systems Interface) is a protocol that enables SCSI storage commands to be transmitted over standard TCP/IP networks. iSCSI provides block-level storage access similar to Fibre Channel but uses existing Ethernet infrastructure, making it a cost-effective SAN solution. Modern iSCSI implementations support jumbo frames, multipathing, and CHAP authentication. Performance is enhanced with dedicated storage VLANs and 10/25/100 GbE networks.
